My family loves it! For better taste, boil the soymilk in sauce pot for 5 more minutes and get a finer coffer filter for it. It makes thick tasty soymilk, especially if you use the "double thick" function. All it needs is overnight-soaked organic (non-GMO is even better) soybeans and water and after 28min you have 1L of fresh tasty soymilk! I highly recommend this product. It is much better than Cuisinart soup maker.

Reviews/Advantages/Disadvantages

It's a little loud and startling when it starts grinding, but for the most part, it's silent until the completion beep goes off. It's very easy to clean as long as the machine is washed immediately after use. To make silky/smooth soymilk, I pour the soymilk through the strainer into a pot. I then pour the soymilk through a gold tone coffee filter to remove the fine pulp. The pulp/okara can be used to make waffles or muffins.

Pros:

• Soy milk from this machine is super flavorful with very fine okara, so fine that I'd drink it unfiltered half of the time.
• This soy milk maker does not take up much counter space and it's pretty enough to display.
• Surface of machine remains cool to the touch during operation.
• More stable and quieter than the older model we owned.
• Very easy to clean. If you cannot clean it immediately, use the "easy washing" button.
• We also make rice milk, almond milk, and are trying different combination with this.

Cons:

• The lip is a little too thick, making it hard to pour without dripping a little.

I would recommend purchasing good organic soybeans (such as the ones from Bob's Red Mill). I originally purchased organic soybeans from the bulk bin at Whole Foods, but they were pretty old and not very good. The machine is very quiet and does not take up much space. Overall, I think this is a wonderful appliance and will quickly pay for itself.

Conclusion

Choose a cheaper model if you're not after the authentic Chinatown soymilk, but if you want to impress a Chinese Mother-in-Law, buy this Joyoung DJ13U-D08SG Easy-Clean Automatic Hot Soy Milk Maker..... my next project is to make her tofu. what can i say? i love my mom-in-law and call her 'mama'.
